The Parish of Upper Coquetdale is about 180 square miles in area, and the population is thought to be about 4,500.
Rothbury is the main centre with about 2,000 inhabitants.
Pastorally, of course, the flock is outnumbered by the sheep in the valley, 10 to 1!
